Abstract: to contribute to the knowledge of oomycetes of the brazilian atlantic rainforest, water and soil samples were collected, every three months, from june/2005 to june/2006, in the parque estadual da serra da cantareira, s？o paulo state, brazil. the samples were treated with the multiple baiting technique, in the laboratory and in the field, to isolate these organisms. twentyone species were identified, two of leptomitales and 19 of saprolegniales, with 179 occurrences during the studied period.

Abstract: a study of chytridiales diversity was based on water and soil samples collected monthly from june/2005 to june/2006 in the serra da cantareira state park, s？o paulo state. the isolation of these fungi was carried out in the laboratory treating the water and soil samples by the multiple baiting technique with cellulosic, chitinous and keratinous substrates. nineteen species were identified with four new citations for brazil, cladochytrium setigerum karling, diplophlyctis intestina (schenk) j. schr？t, rhizophydium macroporosum karling and solutoparies pythii whiffen ex w.h. blackw. & powell. septochytrium willoughbyi dogma is recorded for the first time in s？o paulo state.

Abstract: to study the diversity of the blastocladiales and spizellomycetales, water and soil samples were collected monthly from june/2005 to june/2006, from the parque estadual da serra da cantareira, s？o paulo state, brazil. the isolation of these fungi was carried out in laboratory treating the water and soil samples by the baiting technique with cellulosic, chitinous and keratinous substrates, and using fruits submerged in water bodies as baits in the field. from 111 isolations, nine taxa were identified, three belonging to blastocladiales and six to spizellomycetales. karlingia asterocysta karling and rozella chytriomycetis karling are new records for brazil.

Abstract: two areas of cerrado ("a" and "b") at different preservation stages were selected at the "reserva biológica de mogi gua？u", s？o paulo state, to survey zoosporic fungi diversity. water and soil samples were collected during the rainy (january and october 2008) and dry seasons (april and july 2008), every three months, at six sampling sites in areas "a" and "b". 434 specimens were obtained using the multiple baiting technique with cellulosic, chitinous and keratinous substrates, which are specific for the isolation of aerobic, parasitic or saprobial fungi. 38 species were identified, belonging to blastocladiomycota, chytridiomycota and oomycota. of these, 31 species are cited for the reserve for the first time. the results increased our knowledge of the occurrence of the organisms from cerrado in s？o paulo state and brazil, complementing previous studies in the reserve.

Abstract: dried biomass of the zoosporic fungi saprolegnia subterranea and pythium torulosum was evaluated for copper, manganese and cadmium biosorption from aqueous solutions using the "q" (mg of adsorbed metal per g of biomass) and the "r%" (percent removal) indices. the highest q values were observed when the biomass was placed in contact with high metal concentrations, whereas the highest r% values were observed at low concentrations (p<0.05). s. subterranea spc 1244 biomass surpassed the others for copper biosorption (q = 7.48 mg/g; r% = 49.03), p. torulosum spc 1425 biomass was the best for manganese biosorption (q = 4.13 mg/g; r% = 26.71), and s. subterranea spc 1431 biomass was the best for cadmium biosorption (q = 6.75 mg/g; r% = 42.26). this is the first report on copper, manganese and cadmium biosorption by the biomass of these zoosporic fungi, indicating the potential to remove ions from diluted solutions.

Abstract: water and submerged mixed litter samples were collected from june 2011 to april 2012 to study the diversity of zoosporic organisms (blastocladiomycota, chytridiomycota, and oomycota) from the stream pirarungaua located in parque estadual das fontes do ipiranga (pefi), s？o paulo, s？o paulo state, brazil. in the laboratory, they were placed in petri dishes and processed by the multiple baiting technique using cellulosic, queratinic, and chitinic baits. forty-two taxa have been isolated and identified, 27 of them being at species level. seven are new records for parque estadual das fontes do ipiranga: cladochytrium setigerum karling, diplophlyctis intestina (schenk) j. schr？t, myzocytiopsis humana (karling) m. w. dick, nowakowskiella elongata karling, nowakowskiella multispora karling, plectospira myriandra drechsler, and pythium graminicola subramanian, which are described, commented and illustrated. myzocytiopsis humana is reported for the first time in brazil.

Abstract: this article presents a survey of fungi obtained from soil, water and mixed leaf litter samples taken from the atlantic rainforest in the municipality of cubat？o, in the state of s？o paulo, during the years of 1993 to 1995. using different techniques for the isolation of microscopic fungi, a total of 280 taxa was obtained (66 zoosporic fungi, 40 mucorales, 45 glomales, 125 anamorphs, three ascomycota and one basidiomycota), with 23 species being reported for the first time in brazil.

Abstract: a survey of zoosporic fungi from artificial lakes of the fontes do ipiranga state park, in the city of s？o paulo, s？o paulo state, brazil, yielded the isolation of 41 taxa with 36 species. twenty-three taxa belong to chytridiales, monoblepharidales and spizellomycetales of the phylum chytridiomycota, fungi kingdom and 18 belong to saprolegniales and peronosporales, phylum oomycota, straminipila kingdom. of these, 14 are first-time records for this state park: aphanomyces helicoides von minden, catenochytridium kevorkianii sparrow, catenochytridium sp., chytriomyces appendiculatus karling, c. aureus karling, c. hyalinus karling, c. spinosus fay, diplophlyctis asteroidea dogma, d. complicata (willoughby) dogma, karlingia dubia karling, nowakowskiella hemisphaerospora shanor, saprolegnia australis elliott, septochytrium variabile berdan and truittella sp., which are described, commented and illustrated. the last genus is reported for the first time for brazil.

Abstract: from november/2003 to november/2004, water and soil samples were collected every three months in the paranapiacaba biological reserve, an important fragment of brazilian atlantic rain forest, to study oomycota diversity. to isolate these organisms, the samples were treated by the baiting technique, which resulted in the identification of 35 species: one belongs to leptomitales, four to peronosporales, two to rhipidiales and 28 to saprolegniales; in this paper we describe and illustrate, with comments, the species already mentioned for brazil. three are cited for the first time for s？o paulo state, leptolegnia eccentrica coker & matthews, pythiopsis humphreyana coker and pythiopsis irregularis seymour, and 20 for this area.

Abstract: the diversity study of the chytrids from soil and water from the "reserva biológica de paranapiacaba", yielded 29 species, with three blastocladiales, 23 chytridiales, one monoblepharidales and two spizellomycetales. from these, 69% taxa were cited for the first time for reserve, 14% for s？o paulo state and 7% for brazil. rhizophydium condylosum karling is being mentioned for the first time in brazil.
